PIANALE:

How many lessons will receive each student?

All active participants will receive a total of 12 lessons. 2 lessons per teacher. The first lesson is 50 minutes, the second between 30-45 minutes.

Can I select one or more teachers?

One of the characteristics of PIANALE is that all participants receive lessons by all teachers. No teacher can be selected by the participant. Lessons with our special guest professor can be booked additionally in advance.

What does "additional course repertoire" mean?

In addition to the concert repertoire, which is played during the classes as well as in the concerts, you can specify an additional repertoire of works you would like to perform in class but not in concert.

When and how often will I perform on stage?

Each student performs at least twice. The first concert will be held during the first week of concert rounds; the second concert during the second week of concert rounds. The individual programs of the concert rounds will be announced on the day before each concert. It is all about that all participants present themselves in two characteristically different halls. In each concert the jury and audience listens to 7 – 10 pianists.

Can I only participate in the competition?

No. All students of PIANALE automatically take part in the master classes. Decisive for the choice of the semi-finalists and finalists are not only the concert performances, but also the assessment of the students through the lessons.

Can I only attend the master classes without being a competitor?

In some cases, students can also participate only at the piano master classes and the language courses. They renounce the participation in the concert rounds and any public appearance.

PIANALE JUNIOR:

How many lessons will receive each student?

All active participants of PIANALE JUNIOR receive a total of 4 lessons. 2 lessons per teacher. One lesson lasts 60 minutes.

When and how often will I perform on stage?

Each student will perform twice. At the first concert all the 12 participants of PIANALE JUNIOR will perform. All participants, who will not perform in the final, will have the opportunity to present themselves in a second concert.

Can I only attend the master classes without being a competitor?

In some cases, students can participate only at the piano master classes and the language courses. They renounce the participation in the concert rounds and any public appearance.

Can I book an orientation class after my arrival in Schlitz?

No. The PIANALE JUNIOR orientation lessons with professors of PIANALE for students between 18-30 years can only be booked in advance with the registration form.

General questions:

Language Courses:

When does the language courses take place?

The language courses take place from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 am.

Do I loose practice time, when I book a language course?

No. The practice timetable is fixed in advance so that all participants get the possibility to practice for many hours.

Can I book other languages than English and German?

Yes. All languages can be requested. For the fee of 125 Euro a minimum of 3 participants per course is required. The single course fee of 375 Euro will be charged if less than 3 participants are in one group.

Practice time:

How many hours can I practice?

The practice timetable is fixed in advance by the organization. Each student between 18-30 years receives 5 hours practice time per day, every student of PIANALE JUNIOR 3 hours practice time per day. The hours from 7:00 to 8:00 and from 22:00 to 23:00 are additionally at free disposal.

Accommodation:

Can I organize my own accommodation, if I do not want to stay in the guest house of the castle Hallenburg?

We strongly recommend the accommodation in Schloss Hallenburg, because there all the information will be announced as well as meals, lessons, practice sessions and concert departures take place. Those who opt for a hotel but outside the guest house, will pay a daily fee of 10 euros and can not attend the meals also. In order to obtain daily information the students are solely responsible. For the lack of important information the organization is not responsible.

Arrival:

Where is Schloss Hallenburg in Schlitz located and how do I get there?

The nearest airport is Frankfurt Main International. The nearest train station is Fulda. Schlitz has no rail station. From Fulda railway station the bus number 591 takes you to Schlitz. If necessary we can organize pick up services from the railway station Fulda and from Frankfurt Main International Airport.

Can I book the pick up service for one way as well?

Yes. It is possible to reserve the pick-up service for one way. The price will be reduced to half.

General questions:

Can I change my program / repertoire even after my registration?

Yes. You can change your program until the registration deadline (May 31, 2016). In this case, the registration form with the new program must be re-filled and sent to PIANALE.

Will I get money back, if I cancel my participation at PIANALE?

In case of cancellation, 80% refund of course fees will be granted if written cancellation notice is received before June, 15, 2016. After June 15, 2016 fees can not be refunded any longer.

Can I pay the fee in two payments?

In case of two seperate payments no early bird rate can be given. The piano course fee must be paid within 8 working days after the date of invoice. This fee is non refundable. The second payment must be done until May 10, 2016. Applications after May 10, 2016 are not allowed to pay in two separate payments.

Can I suscripe for student concert abo after my arrival?

Our concerts are usually fully booked. Therefore, we can only sell the remaining tickets to students who decide to subscribe for the student concert abo after their arrival. There is no guarantee for participation in the student concert abo after the registration deadline.

Can I book a lesson with the guest professor after my arrival?

No. The lessons from the guest professor can only be booked in advance with the registration form.

Can I participate in the PIANALE again if  I have already performed at semifinals / finals in former years?

Only former winners of the Audience Award and/or the Jury Award waive participation in the semifinal and final. You are welcome to take part in the courses and other concerts before the semifianl concert again. Finalists who did not win the Audience Award or/and Jury Award, are welcome to participate again as all other participants.
